Xianyi Zeng is a chair professor in ENSAIT – University of Lille, France, Director of the GEMTEX National Laboratory, and also a guest professor of Soochow University, Nankai University and Xi’An Polytechnic University. He is an IEEE Senior Member, President of the Textile, Bioengineering and Informatics Society, and President of the Group on Human-Machine Systems of GRAISyHM (regional research association on automation). He has the French National Knight's title in the Order of the Academic Palms since 2019 and was holder of the Innovation R&D Award from France-China Committee of MEDEF (National Association of Enterprises in France) in 2021. He was selected as one of the “Top 10 Leading Talents in Science and Technology of European Chinese” in 2022.
In ENSAIT, he is head of the Department of Fashion and Service Engineering and the Research Group for Human-Centered Design. The main research interests of Prof. Xianyi Zeng include artificial intelligence, digital fashion, human-machine interactions, intelligent wearable systems, computerized garment design and management. He has published more than 150 papers in peer-reviewed international journals and presented more than 250 papers at international conferences, and supervised more than 40 PhD students. In recent years, he has been a coordinator of three European research projects and six French projects, and more than 20 industrial projects in cooperation with international groups in France and Europe. Two important achievements have been made. 1) Development of a digital platform for interactive fashion design and textile supply chain management, realized in the frame of the European FBD_BModel project. This platform was identified as key innovation by the EU Innovation Radar in 2021 and is being exploited towards European fashion brand companies. 2) Intelligent garment for online health monitoring of pregnant women, realized in the frame of the IOTFetMov project (French ANR Program). Supported by the France-China Committee, the intelligent garment is being industrialized towards the Chinese market.
